I was in a really bad flare...was on flagyl and levaquin and as soon as i finished those, went on 40 mg of prednisone. I was doing really well until I tapered off the streroids (i think i pushed it a bit to fast).

Now I am having lots of blood and urgency as well as an absurd amount of gas!

My doctor had me go back up to the 40 mg of prednisone yesterday and typically i have relief the next day, but...nothing yet.

Any advice for the gas and or speeding up recovery?

I promise I will taper more slowly this time...ugh!

Not a lot of advice - GAS-X helps me - also eating less sugar and dairy!
Good luck!

I ditto the above post ... I take two GAs-X pills a day - one when I first wake up and one before dinner time. It cuts gas way down. Also examine your diet and make sure you are not eating anythign diet or sugar free. The sugar alcohols in food and drink that has the "fake sugar" can really wreck havoc ...

dairy has not been a problem for me so far but eating too much sugar has. I used to put a cup of sugar in a gallon of tea (Southerners love their sweet tea) and realized that I would get abdominal discomfort every time a drank a glass or two. I cut the sugar down to just 1/4 cup so there was little sugar in each glass and wow - what a difference!
