Keep in mind that we often crave the very foods that cause problems and/or allergic reactions. Cravings should die down in a few days.
Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis spring 1999. Have been in remission for years with only a few minor blips.

Maintenance dose sulfasalazine. Probiotics, vitamin D, fiber supplement and fish oil caps. George's aloe vera juice and l-glutamine for gut healing. Mostly grain-free and dairy-free low carb diet.

Why do we crave foods that are bad for us. maybe this is why I was such a sugaraholic for years. And pizza, I could eat that everyday.

Female 32 years old

Diganosed ulcerative colitis November 2007
Present medication- 1X 500mg pentasa in the morrning= 250g pentasa and 1 X250g Asacol every other evening
Diet- Tried raw food diet with 80% raw foods, found some pro's and cons. Started to add more products to keep up weight as mine did not balance. Still eating raw spinage and still am combination eating. No dairy No gluten.

Other medical problems- Born with asthma- no medication taken for this.
dyslexia- found out that many people with learning difficulties also have food sensitivity

hellokity, its all addiction..

the food we been eating for so long, were addicted to the taste.
I believe that to the core of my heart.

Once we start cleansing our bodies, we wont be addicted anymore, and we will forget the taste.

After a long water fast/juice fast, youll be suprised how tastey the simplest of food is. =]

Those cravings are difficult to battle initially, especially if the diet doesnt' seem to work at the beginning. It may be too early for nut flours but they are a great replacement for breads. I do miss eating candy bars, M&m's, and pizza. The last time I had a sub sandwich I ended up with really watery diarrhea. And definitely no more beer.

Stay strong my friend. You are showing good signs of recovery!!!
Diagnosed 8/99. Suffered for almost 10 years. I am currently on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and am nearing remission. I feel fantastic! I have lossed so many years to this disease.

MED-FREE!!!

Doc wanted to put me on 6-mp or Remicade, but I refused to take the medications! Currently on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet.  I'm in remission and life is like it always should have been.

I am so happy to hear you are med free!  I have had UC for 12 years and spent the last 3 miserable.  I just started SCD this week as I am desperate.  I am on 40mg of prednisone a day and cannot wait to start a taper.  You give me a little bit of hope!

This disease has taken so much of our lives away. I spend every day when I'm in remission thanking God I can walk around enjoying each step.

I advise using the guidelines set by pecanbread.com. They have different levels of the diet, and certainly stay away from the yogurt and nut flours until the diarrhea is gone. Add a probiotic about a week or two into it, and check the ingredients out for any forbidden items.
