Had the sigmoidoscope today.  The doctor told me I certainly am in a flare (no kiddin) and he considers it mild to moderate.  I wasn't bleeding  before this procedure, but this sure will clinch it.  He said to expect bleeding now.  The two Fleet's enemas I had to take prior weren't too bad.  Actually the sigmoidoscope wasn't that painful either.  Guess I am used to them by now.  The ulcerations are still limited to the rectal area.  He asked me if I wanted to go on the prednisone but we both agreed to try to stay off it as long as necessary.  For now he suggested I do the Cort enemas at night and in the morning (forego the Canasa), 9 Colazal per day and the 6MP.  Keeping my fingers crossed my condition doesn't worsen.  If so, a short course of prednisone will be tried.  UGH!  I HATE THIS DISEASE!!!   Oh, he also took two biopsies and I see him in three weeks.

I hope things get under control ASAP and you can avoid the pred! I'm glad you say the sig isn't that bad, I'm going to have my first ever next month.

Glad it is over.  Now treating it aggressively sounds good - avoid the steroids and hopefully you won't have to go on them.  I am sorry that 6 MP does not keep you in remission - hoping it would for me!  Oh well, we are all different but we all agree to hate this DD!!
