Hello,

My name is Brandon. I'm 24 and was diag. with Colitis in 93-94 then it when away for about a year with meds (what I can remember). Then turned into UC in 95-96. I have had my ups and downs with UC. Been on azathioprine most of my UC life. Was on a few others can't remember because I was still young. For the last 4 years I have been on Ascol till Lialda came out and was switch to it. Because my doctor said it would work little better because I've been having bleeding for 5-6 straight. I moved from my old doctor to a new doctor in a different state and he has kept me on the same meds. Did some blood work and said I look a little anemic. That was my first and second visit to him. I have setup a colonoscopy in the next month because it had been 3 years and also I'm having major problems. about  10-12 months I've been having alot of bowel movements. Really bad ones in the middle of the night. Talking long ones that hurt. My health seem fine in the last 8 months, I was going to the gym 3-4 times a week and gaining weight. But having hard bowel movements all day. Still alot of bleeding and just seem like the meds were not working. Which I told my doctor and he had me take a test to see if the meds are the right amount for my body. Plus he said I'm due for a colonscopy, which after doing it we could see what new meds will help. Back to my problem... about 2 months ago I got really sick like the flu. I was sick for a month and just start having bad bowel movements and losing weight. I went to the doctor and they said bronchitis. Gave me z pack and antibotics so I took them and felt a little better. Then had bad days and good days for about 2 weeks. Went back to the doctor and said it still hadn't gone away. Gave me more antibotics said take these and if it don't care up then go to a lung specialist. Well this whole time I was having breathing problems, light head, coughing, bad bowel movements, losing major weight. Now its been 2 months still feeling sick. The bronchitis has seem to go away a little bit. I've been having very bad night sweats in the night and chills. I mean pools of water. I have to change my shirt some nights. I'm really pale, very tired, sleeping alot, lighthead when I walk alot, short of breathe, bad bowel movements, loses of weight (total 30lbs in 2 months), I get headaches some days, fast heart beat after only walking up the stairs.

I wondering if this has happen to anybody on the forum and what I should talk to my doctor about as far as how to FIX IT.
This is the worse my UC has ever gotten. I'm scared, I feel like im dieing. I'm 24 and I'm disabled right now in the last 2 months have been hell. I just want answers but I want to be ready for the doctor on monday to talk about all this. Please help me! If you have any problems like this please tell me about them and how they helped you.

Thanks,
Brandon

Brandon, welcome to HealingWell.

To me, the majority of your symptoms sound like a lung problem, which may be completely separate from your UC. Please consider following through with the lung specialist, as it sounds like it could be serious.

Good luck, and feel better.

Brandon, I am so sorry you are feeling so ill.  I read over your post twice and the only conclusion I could come to was this is not just a UC problem.  I would recommend you go to your family physician and demand a total work up.  By that I mean complete blood work studies and chest xray to rule out pneumonia.  There most definitely is something going on in your system to be that ill.  Please  try to get this done ASAP and let us all know how you are doing.  God bless.

Your symptoms certainly need a doctor's attention.  Most sound like the side effects I get from some medications - like high doses of 6 MP.  I sweat, chills, nausea, dizzy, pale, etc.  Check with doctor for sure!
