Yesterday I took my last prednisone. yeah

During the taper some of the side effects have disappeared or lessened. I am sleeping a little better at least. Some of the others seem to have gotten worse as the levels in my system have continued to change. I have been incredibly moody, I still have moon face, I am really hungry in the evening and can't stop snacking, acne and hair growth are worse , and I can't think.

When you tapered off prednisone, how long did it take for the side effects to go away?

I'm assuming it would take a month or so for many of the obvious symptoms to go away...but it's possible that before that kicks in that you may have some slight flare setbacks.

Are you still on the Salofalk and Mezavant?

Great you finished with the pred....

Thanks Quincy

I am still on my other meds. They have gotten me through the taper. I have had some uncomfortable days, some with pain as I went down from 60 mg of pred. It got pretty bad for a little while after I hit 30 and I stayed at 20 mg for 2 weeks but I never had any more blood or diarrhea so I figured I was doing ok.

I am eager for the side effects to move on out now. Hoping to enjoy the summer!

I think all you can do is wait while going through the process of your own body's cortisol to kick in and for the side effects of the pred to subside.

Make sure you do eat a balanced diet and do some exercise....walking is good.

Are you taking calcium/mag/vitamin D?

Yay for being off pred! The only real side effect I had was moonface, which went away after a couple of weeks. But, I wasn't on pred for very long at all, and on the higher doses (40 and 30mg) for only 10 days. The munchies went away really quickly.
Status: Remission since late May 2009!
Symptoms began in November 2008, ~4 weeks after giving birth to my son.
Eased for ~3 weeks in December, possibly b/c of probiotic use?
Returned in January 2009 (with a vengeance), diagnosed with pancolitis on January 30.
Currently taking Asacol (400mg 4 pills 3x daily), Rowasa twice weekly, Culturelle probiotic, and Zoloft (25 mg).
