My office is going to lunch on Thursday to celebrate an achievment. I was told beforehand where the luncheon would be and honestly it's never been a favorite with my gut...but I can usually get away with ordering a salad or soup, and...I want to be a team member. So today one of the manager's walks into my cube with a designated menu...and everything on that menu was something that would send my gut into a tailspin. Although I'm in Remi remission, I still get pain and extra bm's from certain foods (or restaurants!) so I'm pretty particular in what I eat. I asked politely if he would mind if I had a side salad or soup, and he said that these were the only choices given; they had taken all the salads off the menu. He said just get a menu item and eat a little. I thought...but I don't want to waste food I'm not going to eat just for the sake of ordering it! So I told him I would just go as a team member. When he kept pushing, I told him that everything sounds great, it's just my gut doesn't like it! I just heard him tell someone else that..."What's on the menu isn't going to kill us if we eat it." Well, I wanted to yell...."Yes it will! It will hurt me badly!" :-) Come into the bathroom about 2:00 p.m!

Okay -- vent over. :-)

Tell him you'll be happy to eat a little if he will approve paid administrative leave for you for the rest of the day after lunch, because you'll be busy in the bathroom.

I usually try not to bring a lot of attention to myself, but he kept pushing! His wife is a vegetarian, and he's not happy about that, so I think he assumes I'm the same way. My boss knows my dilemma, so I'm hoping he will set him straight. Funny; I never tell other people the way to eat! ***Sigh***

That's so stupid! Would he do the same thing if you had a milk or peanut allergy and everything on the menu had those ingredients?

You should poo on him.

Some people are flat-out annoying!

Go fart in his office. A nice SBD.
Status: Remission since late May 2009!
Symptoms began in November 2008, ~4 weeks after giving birth to my son.
Eased for ~3 weeks in December, possibly b/c of probiotic use?
Returned in January 2009 (with a vengeance), diagnosed with pancolitis on January 30.
Currently taking Asacol (400mg 4 pills 3x daily), Rowasa twice weekly, Culturelle probiotic, and Zoloft (25 mg).

Can you get a veggie meal? Those are sometimes more innocent. I am always very picky too, I can't risk eating something that is going to put me on the toilet.
Diagnosed with mild proctitis in March 2007: Treated with Canasa (as needed)
December 08: Began treating with Asacol 400mg (9/day) + Canasa 2x/day - Anemic
May 09: Off Canasa, taking Asacol (9/day)
Back on Canasa every other night + Asacol (9/day) + Probiotics + Iron
Reducing to 6 Asacol/day + Canasa + Probiotics + Iron - So far so good!!! -SPOKE TOO SOON! Back to 9/day...

Crazy -- but there wasn't one thing on the menu which was vegetarian. And most had cream sauces like Chicken Fettucine. Usually there is one thing I can choose that I know will be semi okay and I can eat around it, but this had nothing! :-) Well, chalk it up to ignorance.

This is why I love this board... "go fart in his office". I had been feeling crabby and now I can't stop giggling.

Well, this is too funny! I just got back from a walk with my friend who is also in this dept. and I started to mention the lunch. Before I could get another word out she said, "His reaction to me when I asked to order the whole wheat noodles with just marinara sauce was pathetic!" I said, "What?" She told me he said that she could order anything off the "menu" and no alternates. And she said it wasn't because she had food intolerances; she just prefers not to eat that way! So she told me not to go to the meeting; not sure what my boss would say to that, but hmmm.

I think that pre-flare fart (the one that smells like something died in me) is in order. :-) In his office. Hee hee.

Maybe we could each bottle a super-stinky fart, mail it to you, then you could release them all at once in your boss' office! :)
