Moderate to severe left-sided UC diagnosed 2001.
Flared for 5 years, finally in remission with Remicade since March 2006.
Avascular necrosis in both shoulders is my "forever" gift from steroids.

DX: UC (Pancolitis) as of Jan2009.  Symptoms first began June 2008.
Current Meds: Ferrous Sulfate, plus various supplements
Previous Meds: Jan-Mar 2009: Asacol 800 mg (1 pill x 4 daily), stopped Mar14/09.

*Heather* Status: maintenance Asacol 6 daily + Salofalk enemas every 3rd night
~diagnosed January 1989 UC (proctosigmoiditis)
~UC meds: Asacol (3 x2 daily); Salofalk enemas nightly for flares & taper to maintenance 
~Bentylol (dicyclomine) 20mg as needed; Ranitidine (reflux);  Effexor XR 75mg(depression);  Pulmicort/Airomir (asthma) 
~vitamins/minerals/supplementsProbiotics....(Natural Factors Protec, Primadophilus Reuteri Pearls). @ bedtime
~various digestive enzymes as needed
~URSO for PSC (or PBC) 500mg X 2 daily (LFTs back to NORMAL!!)
My doc's logic.. "TREAT (FROM)BOTH ENDS"  worth it !!!

Right now -FLARING (after my Rubella vaccination)
Diagnosed in Jan'2009: Canasa suppositories 1000 nightly - worked for 2 months then re-flare
13 may: canasa 1000 X2 daily for 2 weeks - to start Lialda after 2 weeks if canasa double dose does not work
Lialda X2 started on 30th may.
Symptoms: Mucus, blood, constipated (not always), Lots Gas
Also gifted with Hypothyroid & have calicum deficiency family history!
Also started Probiotic from 23 Mar & fresh Turmeric root from 25 March'09- stopped both on 10th May

Hurray! We need you to keep us safe from roving moderators whose socks apparently get shocked off when they come to read UC posts ... But, hey, Quincy & pb4 are loads of fun to blog with, besides helping us out with lots of practical advice nearly 24/7 so we have great things going on over here. Amen. bbc, we know you live in the 21st century! / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])
