I'm not sure if it's the pred (now 20mg a day) or the metronidazole I'm on, but I'm getting some episodes of palpitations, also my BP is up, I'm guessing this is normal?

Pred will give you high BP. When on at least 15-20mg pred, my BP goes up to 140 something over 95ish. As soon as I drop below 10 mg it drops back down to normal.

Prednisone can cause high blood pressure, increased heart rate, increased salt retention, and depletion of potassium. Don't get me started on the Cushingoid type symptoms. Not a fun drug to be on long-term.
Pharmacist as of 6/12/2009.
Diagnosed 8/99. Suffered for almost 10 years. I am currently on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and am nearing remission. I feel fantastic! I have lossed so many years to this disease.

MED-FREE!!!

Doc wanted to put me on 6-mp or Remicade, but I refused to take the medications! Currently on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet.  I'm in remission and life is like it always should have been.

While hospitalized last year, my BP soared to 210/110 on the prednisone.  The myriad of doctors on the band wagon had me on three different blood pressure meds which made me feel even worse and didn't do squatums for the BP.  After I was discharged (and gratefully not in a pine box), I called my cardiologist (who was not affiliated with the hospital I was in) and he immediately put me on a water pill which brought the pressue down and I was able to cut down on the BP meds too.    Makes ya wonder huh?
