Because it is 10 days after my 3rd dose and I had no side effects at all!

Looks like I am staying on Remicade and I wanted to update and let everyone know
because I may have scared some with what I thought was my reaction/hospitalization after the 2nd dose.

I now believe it was as the doctors said, an opportunistic infection that was just able to thrive due
to the steroids and possibly Remicade's immunosuppressant effects.

Great! I'm sure that your body was terribly depleted, too, as you'd been flaring so badly, which also allowed the infection to thrive. I'm glad that it looks like Remicade will work well for you and hope you have many years of remission!

Good! Same thing happened to me- it's scary as heck getting that first infusion after the infection though, isn't it? I actually had my primacy care doc do labs just to see if the blood looked "funky" before I went for it! But that's great- glad it's working. Just be super pro-active about your infusions- any weird signs & reschedule for a week or so.

Great news! I hope the Remicade gets you to remission quickly.
Diagnosed with mild proctitis in March 2007: Treated with Canasa (as needed)
December 08: Began treating with Asacol 400mg (9/day) + Canasa 2x/day - Anemic
May 09: Off Canasa, taking Asacol (9/day)
Back on Canasa every other night + Asacol (9/day) + Probiotics + Iron
Reducing to 6 Asacol/day + Canasa + Probiotics + Iron - So far so good!!! -SPOKE TOO SOON! Back to 9/day...
