I bought a couple of these at the health food store today. Has anyone tried these long enough to see if they actually work as well as yogurt or other probiotics? I don't see the specific cultures listed on the bar itself or on their website.

Hey there Max,

I bought a couple of boxes of the Chocolate Attune probiotic bars a little while back and had great success with them. I ate one or two a day and was having fully formed BM's. I think I'm going to start eating them again now that I'm in a flare. I don't like yogurt and never committed to taking probiotics on a regular basis so these little chocolate bars were just the thing for me. They're tasty too. I ate them for about 3 weeks and felt some relief. I encourage you to try them for a couple weeks. I'm sure every little bit helps.

Too bad they weren't cheaper, sounds like a good product.

Copy and paste into URL bar. Mind you this is only one site and it does list the cultures and ingredients but it might best to do a little more looking to see if one can find it cheaper if one were inclined to purchase.

Wow...I'd much prefer to take probiotics in capsule form and certainly wouldn't depend on these bars for any sort of probiotic source. It has lots of fibre in it...of all kinds...Most of which, unfortunately, would cause me great gas discomfort.

Let us know how they work for you if you try them Max..

I had one bar the other day but it wasn't a good test as I was also taking Mesalamine enema after my GI found mild inflammation the previous day using a sigmoidoscopy. I also had a turkey hot dog which is something I haven't had in a while. That night I had abdominal pain and cramping, but I think that was because of the Mesalamine. I'm going to wait until I'm off of the enema before I try the other one. It says on their website it takes 14 days to work completely.

One thing I did notice was that it tasted really good. I had the chocolate crisp and it reminded me of a nestle crunch. I tried kefir a while back for probiotics but that tasted terrible and didn't seem to help. I've also been having some good belly drinks but haven't noticed any good or bad changes.

The idea of probiotics makes sense, but its so hard to determine cause and effect with any kind of diet change.

I would suggest you maybe try a quarter of a bar, then the next day a half, then the next day three-quarters and the day after a full bar...or do the process slower.

I want to let you know that waiting to get off the enema might having you wait a while. You have to taper them and maybe be on maintenance.

Having abdominal cramping isn't necessarily a bad thing if you can pinpoint the culprit. I think you had too much fibre of the gas producing kind. Did you have it on an empty stomach?

Try it again, but in a small amount. Maybe with a meal as a dessert maybe...make sure you do take in enough water during the day.

It might not be of a bother to you afterward. Slow is best with that kind of fibre.
