Hi to everyone!
I was diagnosed in Nov 08 with left sided colitis and my first doctor only treated me with Asacol 3 times daily and steroid enemas. For a period of 6 months (with about 2 1/2 weeks in-between the 6 months off of them) I was prescribed these enemas twice a day. Now since I have switched doctors and been off the enemas, I have had pain in the middle of my heels on my feet. Every morning when I wake up, I have a really stiff pain and just a touch of it in my wrists. When I sit for long periods of time too, I get this.
I really like my doctor now but when I bring this up, she doesn't seem too concerned with it. I am wondering if anyone has this as a side effect of Asacol or if it sounds like something more serious from the steroids. My doctor now was shocked at the amount of time I was on the steroids. I am concerned that this won't go away or that it could get worse. Could this just be withdrawls from the steroids - I have been off of them for about 2 months now.
As always, any insight is greatly appreciated confused

It could be from the steroids or it could be from the UC which can cause stiff/achy joints. I would give it a few more weeks to see if it gets better. I would think the steroids would be out of your system by now. I'm not sure about long term damage though, anytime I'm on steroids, the pains go away after I'm off of them. So far I haven't had any pain except for when I'm coming off the steroids.

I developed Plantar Facitus...not sure I spelled that right.  Right heel killed me upon awakening.  I was on prednisone for seven months last year.  May or may not have had some effect.  Foot doctor said it is pretty common even amongst people not on steroids.  Dr. Scholls inserts helped me very, very much.
