Biotin is very safe to take. It is one of the "water soluable" vitamins so if you take more than your body needs, guess where it ends up? in your pee! turn

I take 5 mgs a day. I don't know if you will be able to find a 5000 mg pill. Maybe you mean 5000 mcg which would be equal to 5 mgs. There is research out there that it helps with hair re-growth, that's why I'm taking it (I blame my hair loss on Prednisone).

Gosh, that reminds me to take it, I bought some a few weeks ago. Has anyone had success with Ojon shampoo and conditioner? I really think my hair loss is getting better since I started using it. I use the green one for volumizing and it smells absolutely heavenly. It is pricey though!! Now, if I can remember to take that biotin along with all the other 13 pills I take a day.

I've been on Biotin for about 3 years now. It definately helps with my nails and hair that is for sure. I had deep horizontal ridges in my nails and when I started taking Biotin, the ridges went away. I just recently tried stopping it to see what would happen and the ridges came back almost immediately. I too take the 5000mcgs because anything lower didn't seem to work.
