Hey Quincy,
I have a question for you about PSC...since I was dianosed back in March, I decided that it would be best with a liver disease and my UC to totally quick drinking  (not that I drank an abnormal amount), I just knew that I would feel really guilty drinking alcohol knowing I have a liver disease.
Well, this weekend is July 4th and I live in Florida (enough said), do you think it would be ok to have a few beers (no hard liquor) on the 4th while enjoying a bbq?

Hi..I agree regarding the drinking with psc...I have maybe a sip here and there, but don't handle alcohol very well anyway. Not a bad thing since I'm from a family of alcoholics. So, I opt for chocolate or coffee!
Don't forget you're on an immunosuppressant...I don't think they mix with alcohol very well, so you may have less of a tolerance to it anyway.

The problem with drinking and your liver is that it's difficult for it to process in a large quantity. Most of us suggest NO binge drinking.

I would think that a drink an hour would be a safe amount of time so that your liver won't have to work overtime.

I would think that beer would be good since the alcohol % is usually consumed within a bulk amount of's bubbly, gassy and takes up a lot of room...therefore, you might not be inclined to drink more. But...that could depend on how much beer you drink, what kind..etc. If there is light beer, you might feel more comfortable, not necessarily having the buzz from regular beer, etc.

There are also fancy beers, imported beers, etc...maybe you can purchase more expensive ones rather than by the'll tend to drink less maybe?

We all overdo sometimes....just don't hate yourself afterward and make the celebrations moderate drinking instead of making up for lost time.

Have a great holiday with friends and/or family.
