I recently had the same problem. My insurance agent has been working on getting me a policy with less coverage for the same price as my husbands policy. It sucks, but I need something as my children are young. My agent has told me that the company will do a review periodically if requested. As long as my disease stays under control they may increase my coverage after a couple of years. I recently had a scope that showed no signs of "active" disease, but definate signs of underlying IBD. I am hoping that if I have another scope that shows the same in 2 years the company will increase my coverage.
Definately shop around though. And get a good agent who will work for you. Not all companies are created equal. Good luck!
