Wouldn't you know it, the only time that I don't pitch a fit about getting antibiotics it comes back and kickes me in the gut. I broke a tooth about a month ago and when I went to see the dentist he said that it was broke all the way down to the root and starting to get an infection so he gave me antibiotics. I usually go through the whole "I have UC so these aren't going to interfere are they" and then the docs look at me like I'm stupid and patronize me and say NO. So instead of going through that I just took the prescription and now I want to cry. I can't remember the last time I was in so much pain in my colon. I went to see the GI today, he wants a stool sample tested before he gives me the counter antibiotics. Luckily I have been insanely thirsty and staying hydrated or he said that he might have put me in the hospital. Thank goodness for small miracles, I can't afford to miss work and can't stand to be in the hospital. So I guess I need to eat something so I will have something to fill the little cup with. I'm just having a hard time from keeping the food down long enough for it to pass out the bottom and not keep coming out the top. Somedays I just wish I could stay in bed for as many days as it takes to feel better.
I hope things are going better for you all, thanks for letting me rant.

I'm so sorry! C. diff really sucks. I've given samples that were all blood and mucous and got positive results. Actually it seems like my stool results were always more accurate when I mainly gave blood and mucous instead of actual stool. I would just give whatever comes out. I hope you get to feeling better and can start treatment soon. I would start taking sacchromyces boularrdi while you're waiting for your result. I take it daily now and haven't had c.diff in a year and a half. Knock on wood! I take the kind by Jarrow, it doesn't have to be refrigerated.

Bless your heart. I had C. Diff about a month ago and it about killed me. I ended up hospitalized for 6 days, then had to go back a week later. That's really great that you are staying hydrated - it's so crucial to your healing. I ended up taking Vancocin and felt better after just a few doses (Flagyl didn't work). Good luck and keep us posted.
Diagnosed w/ UC in August 2007

My dr always tests for C Diff when I am having a flare and I hate making the sample! I always joke that the if I could just carry that sample bucket everywhere, I'd be cured. Because I never have to go when I have it!!! So frustrating!
How do you get C diff?
Hope you are feeling better asap!
