Ok, so this past month I've been having problems with my UC. I'm sure it's just a seasonal flare, but I am not understanding this one. I noticed this past 2 weeks that if I have greasy food my UC acts up and I see a little more bleeding. So, yesterday I totally backed off and was doing fine. I ate a fruit salad, french toast and eggs for breakfast, and for dinner I had a Hawaiian pizza. I'm sure it wasn't greasy one bit. But today I woke up feeling fine, my insides ached a little, so I ate an apple with caramel icing muffin. Then my back started to really ache, and I've been bleeding a little. My bm's have been totally formed, but there is blood along with it. So annoying. My Doctor gave me some steroid medicine that I'm starting today (it's rectal medicine.) Anyone have any advice to help me get me through this? I am backing off on all greasy stuff, even a hint, I'm gonna back off. I am changing my diet too. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Well, I know the issue about food is near and dear to some, but I can assure you that once I jump off the wagon and start in eating sugar and fatty foods, I start feeling bad. I think I've always been that way, but now the UC just exacerbates it. I've always pretty much always watched what I've eaten. Not to say that I've given up all sugar, and I still eat pizza etc, just in moderation. Today I'm back on a high protein diet; watching the sugar and fat. It just makes me feel better all the way around and gives me more energy too. Take care Sweetie, hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Carol, yesterday I limited myself to fruits and veg, no real sweets. I was better this morning. The last time I was put on extra medication (Asacol) in May of 2007, I went backwards, then when I went off it I bounced back to normal with the exception of the blood. Now, I'm trying to do the same as last year, but I do have the medication just in case it get REAL bad, but it hasn't so far. This time around I'm still having the bleeding but I'm not being as strict because I've been feeling fine with the exception of the blood in the morning. I guess I need to force myself to eat better to help. I haven't started the new medication yet. Let's see if the food idea works so I don't have to use that medication. Thanks for the advice.
