I was just wondering if anyone has had any problems with anemia while taking Lialda or Asacol type drugs?  I have been very slack about making my daughter take the folic acid with her Lialda lately.  Also, if there was a problem would the hemoglobin on her labs indicate this?
Also, does any one know where i can get some hemoccult slides for home usage?
Btw, I'm trying to update my signature, but its not taking. Pretty much all she takes now is Lialda three a day, folic acid, and we limit dairy.

Mother of 9 year old with right sided and transverse UC
Diagnosed  2/25/09
Current meds: Asacol 1200 mg three times a day, adult multivitamin, zinc, vit. c, folic acid, B12, probiotics, aloe vera juice when i can get it down her.

I have problems with anemia but I had it from the blood loss related to UC not from the 5asas I think.
Diagnosed with mild proctitis in March 2007: Treated with Canasa (as needed)
December 08: Began treating with Asacol 400mg (9/day) + Canasa 2x/day - Anemic
May 09: Off Canasa, taking Asacol (9/day)
Back on Canasa every other night + Asacol (9/day) + Probiotics + Iron
Reducing to 6 Asacol/day + Canasa + Probiotics + Iron - So far so good!!! -SPOKE TOO SOON! Back to 9/day...
