Hi...I've never had that except when flaring, but I can certainly see how your inflamed rectum and anus would be horrifically affected by the constant bms.
I've taken Bentylol up to 4X when flaring, but that's not the norm for me. You could try it and see if it helps.
Regarding the fibre, I suggest you purchase the capsules and take them when you eat...the food will help them do their thing.
You using the Metamucil powder once and it not working isn't reason enough for you to not try another. I used to use the powder, but the capsules at least don't add another 8 - 16 oz of fluid over and above what I've eaten, so it's easier for me to "digest"..etc.
I would also think that the constant inflammation in the rectum is what's causing the constant bms...once it starts, the peristalsis starts and whatever is in the sigmoid will be emptied, etc.
I guess consistency is a good thing for you....are you taking any rectal meds at all? How about
steroid or even proctocedyl suppositories?
You could also try sitz baths to soothe the perianal area.
How often do you eat during the day?
Are you taking any artificial sweeteners?
Have you given any try regarding the diets that others have had success with here?
Lots of questions...I know. But I think that you could give the Metamucil capsules a try with food intake.
The Bentylol could be taken about
a half hour before you eat. It can help slow the peristalsis a bit, hopefully helping slow down the process of you needing to go or have the sensation after you eat.
How often have you been taking the Bentylol so far?
You definitely need a break from all this...
