I'm feeling pretty chipper at the moment. It is over a month since I came off Azathioprine and started taking LDN. (4.5mg nightly). I have no UC symptoms apart from some residual joint ache. This is subsiding. I have a greater sense of well-being, more energy and no thrush for the first time in my life. Is this the LDN at work I wonder? My asthma is also improving. I now run 5 miles 4 times a week.

OK I am not saying that I have kissed UC goodbye. I know you can come off all medication and not have a flare for a year. However, the signs are encouraging. Fingers crossed!
DX Sept. 2008 aged 45. Moderate / Severe pan UC; Prednisolone tapering from 80 to 20 mg; Asacol worked well, but stopped after hepatitis. Azathioprine 100 mg since November 2008. I'm so envious that LDN is working for you. :-)   I'm happy for you though!!  I tried it a few months back and it gave me the worst joint pain, I could hardly move.  I had to stop taking it after about 3 or 4 weeks because the pain was getting worse.  As soon as it was out of my system, all of the pain went away.  The doctor I was consulting with thought I was having Lyme symptoms and wanted me to get tested.  I knew it was a crock and the pain I was having was from the LDN.

Best of luck to you, I hope you continue to improve!!!

I guess this just goes to show how different we all are. Sometimes LDN can make symptoms worse briefly. It boosts the helper T-cells, the ones that are attacking you, and the suppressor T-cells, the ones that control the helper cells. Sometimes the helper cells get to attack you some more before immune system balance is achieved. Perhaps this is what happened in your case. Mind you 3 or 4 weeks of acute pain is a long time to hang on.

Sorry to here LDN didn't work for you this time. Meanwhile I will reply with monthly updates to this thread.
