spinach & mustard greens always improve my condition the next day, so i cooked spinach & mustard greens yesterday for lunch as i was not feeling too good since past few days. i washed the leaves well....atleast 3times and then cooked them ..... today morning i got D then after 2 hours another round- this time yellow medicine like liquid with mucus and little stool...i i thought a bad flare again! when my husband came for lunch today he told me that he too had some D...so i guess this is nothing to do with flare...i think the leaves were bad...though they looked fresh when i bought them!! i bought them just a day before from an expensive grocery store... this was one store i thought kept good quality stuff... this is scary as this D was not a flare up but might lead to one as i have been feeling slight burning/swollen down there since morning...yes! i did use canasa right after that!
How to differentiate what is good and bad when they all look the same... so many pesticides, etc etc... its scary! Organic veggies are too expensive!
UC forum : Dx Jan'2009: Canasa suppositories 1000 nightly - worked for 2 months then re-flare

Thyroid Forum: Dx in Dec'08, levothyroxine from 50mcg to 75 mcg in June'09 :-(

Unlike some on the forum, I find that spinach always gives me D. And of course I love it.

So glad this wasn't the start of a flare for you!

Maybe next year you could try growing some veggies. My veggie garden gets bigger every year! And they're not hard to maintain. You could probably grow spinach and greens. As for what happened, I dunno. Just make sure you really wash everything. I buy bagged salads that are pre-washed, so far so good.

grow your own is right! Spinach is one of the easiest things to grow, you can do it in a pot even. We just finished our spinach, for the most part. It's nice to go out to your yard & pick whatever you want to eat right then & there! My husband is a HUGE gardener- I don't care for it too much, but have become spoiled.

i do not have a yard :-( but i will definitely try to grow in a pot ! i am scared to buy spinach now.

Quincy... i had just spinach & mustard greens cooked together with corn bread for lunch as well as dinner (corn bread never gives me any problem) i had one cookie which i eat nearly everyday, then i had my daily salad of apple + r.lettuce + baby spinach for lunch. For breakfast i had my daily cereals. So there was nothing new to my diet except spinach & mustard greens. Also i had psyllium husk at night that day.

UPDATE: i had kind of D in the evening as well yesterday... i had to run home from shopping... it was infact not D... it yellow long rope like mucus...never had this before, has anyone had this ever... i guess i have got some kind of infection during my flare up because of that spinach! today morning also i had D in the end, and now my stomach is making weird noises.
