Hi everyone. I used to take Lialda and now switched to Colazal...3 days I take Colazal and 2 days I have D. I never has it before....What's your experience with Colazal?
Diagnosed with left-sided UC on Sept 08 Colazal 5x2day, Lialda 2 per day (so unusual to take just 2 pills)
Canasa 1 supp. every nigh Cortifoam 1 at night
Vitamins: Zinc, B complex, Fleexsead Oil capsules, Multi. Digestive Enzymes (helps a lot)

When I switched from Asacol to Colazal, I had the same thing. I had D for about 2 weeks and then I guess my body got used to it because it stopped. If you are still having D in 2 weeks time, contact your doctor. Colazal is designed mainly for left siders so hopefully this will start working for you soon.

I had increased D with Asacol, but Colazal improved my symptoms. Funny how we all react differently, isn't it?

The strange thing is I used Colazal before I started Lialda and I had no problem back then...

Are you taking original Colazal made by Salix or a generic version? I got great results while on the original 2003-2008. Last fall I switched to a generic made by Watson due to my insurance demands, and started going downhill! (It gave me ugly headaches + D.) I've gone back to Colazal by Salix this yr, with mixed results. Now I suspect that they've altered the formula somewhat-- because it used to give me dry mouth + puffy, itching eyelids at 10 weeks on full dose. I'm not getting those side effects this time around, but still have D instead of formed bms. Therefore, I'm thinking that Salix reduced or eliminated whatever caused dry mouth etc., which must have been the ingredient that stopped D!!!!!!!!!!!!! It seems that we just can't win the whole game. Very frustrating! / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

Same here, Colazal gave me D, I couldn't check my BM for blood, so I though I was healing and the D was just a side effect. Then I took metamusil to helped give me formed BM. I noticed more blood since I could finally examine my BM, after 3 months on Colazal! I'm not sure it's working for me.
