I went to the drugstore (Wallmart) to refill my RX for entocort. They handed me my 30 day supply and said that will be $979.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES I SAID $979. I said noway there has to be a mistake, they checked and told me I had reached a donut hole in my insurance coverage. I have never heard of the donut hole before. Anyways I cannot aford $979 a month much less $979 for this month's medication. I told them to give me a 5 day supply to get me to the day I could call my doctor. (that cost me $137). My doctor is travelling now his assistant called me but could not give me the tapering schedule. I have been trying to find the correct method to get off this drug safely for me and those around me. But all info I have found so far on the web is vague. I need to know exactly how to taper and figure out how much it will cost me because I do not have funds available for $1000 p/m of this med plus the other meds I need to be taking. Can some PLEASE help me?

I don't know the answer to your question. All I know is that I had a bad reaction to entocort and stopped cold turkey. This was after maybe two weeks of use. My GI didn't mention that tapering would be necessary.
Diagnosed with UC in 1990.
