Quick question...what is the deal with fluctuating between constipation and then diarrhoea? I'm still not out of this flare and beginning to flare back up...some days I get sharp pain where there is urgency and then diarrhoea, and then I'll go for a few days where I get almost constant crampy uncomfortable pain where I know I need to go but I can't cos I've got constipation. Then it'll be how it is today where I go several times, mostly normal stool but still with a bit of constipation. I just don't know where I stand with it. I'm trying to eat my 5 fruit and veg a day etc but that doesn't seem to make much difference, its very frustrating!

You can have IBS in addition to Uc and this happens to me on occasion too. My GI thinks I may have IBS too. I still get D on occasion and then for a few days I get nothing. It gets to the point of it starting to be uncomfortable and then I am able to go but it's back to the D. Have you tried fiber supplements yet?

My IBD nurse did mention about the possibility of having IBS as well, she said its fairly common, but never mentioned anymore about it. Its hard to differenciate between the two!

And yep I do have Fybogel supplements but as they're not a necessity I haven't been good at taking them regularly, I will try from now on though and see if they make a difference!
