Cra, the sad fact is that one can have flares on any of the medications we take. Some do, others don't. Like everything else about
this DD, it's individual.
I've been on Remi for 3 1/2 years now and have had no flares. I do still take Colazal and I take a daily probiotic. I don't think the probiotic controls my UC, but I know it helps control the overgrowth of "bad" bacteria because I get bacterial vaginitis whenever I stop taking it. The Colazal didn't control my UC before Remicade, so I now am taking it primarily to help protect me from cancer.
