I was given celexa to help me with the anxiety from UC. The first day I took a whole tablet & felt like I was in overdrive all day. I was very jittery. So I have been taking 1/4 of a tablet for 3 days & I still get the same effects. I feel like I have problems concentrating on every day things. I can't wait until evening when the effects start to wear off. Has anyone else felt this way? What do you advise?
Lialda 3 tablets  daily

That sounds like it wouldn't help, I might just stop taking it. Or taper off it, however. But I've never taken that stuff. I would try to find something natural.

any new drug can take a while to get used to. I take the generic and I don't have any problems. I am on 20 mg but I was on 40 mg/

Hmmm, I'm supposed to start an anti-anxiety med today and also had reservations about it. Glad you posted this so I know what to look for. I am worried about the side effects too as I have a hard time with meds.

I have taken Celexa in the past and trust me, hang on in there! It takes around a week or two when the jittery feeling disappears. Been there, done that. Did your doc give you some Xanax with it? In the beginning you might suffer from more anxiety since your body gets used to be given Serotonin. Just give it a try, I promise it will get better! I felt wonderful on Celexa. You might get a dry mouth for quite some time, too, but once that it over, you will feel good, sleep well and your racing thoughts/anxiety will stop.

Just give it a chance, it needs time to work and your body needs to get adjusted.

Thanks Scarlet for posting this info too. I just stared at my bottle of meds last night. I've never been too afraid to take something and this is supposed to help with the ache in my colon...guess I'll try it tonight. Whew, thanks I needed that.

I am on Celexa too (20mg) and it has helped me tremendously w/ anxiety. Everyone is different, but I would give it a few weeks before you give up on it, as long as they side effects are bearable.
