My husband had a massive heart attack today. He came through heart surgery, but is still in a coma. They won't know how his brain is until he wakes up. I'm at the hospital now. Please keep him in your prayers, he needs it.

Thank you everyone. The entire right side of his heart was completely blocked. They did a catheter and that is now cleared. He is in CICU still in a coma. We don't know how long it was between cardiac arrest and the paramedics starting CPR. We tried but probably did a lousy job. They are lowering his body temperature to try to get any swelling down and get more blood flow to the brain. Because his body was shivering so much being cold, it was counteracting and not allowing his body temperature to lower enough. So they gave him a paralyzing drug. It puts him into a sedated state and his body is calm. His temperature is where they want it now. But it frightens me that he is in this state. Before the drug he was breathing by himself even though he is hooked up to the ventilator. Now the ventilator is breathing for him. They say this is good for him because his body can relax. They will do an EEG and a CT scan of his brain tomorrow but not until he is off the paralyzing drug which he needs to be on for up to 24 hours. It's a wait and see game now.

I left this original message from my son's blackberry while waiting for his cath surgery to be finished. I knew if anyone would be there with prayers it would be my healingwell family. Kiss all your loved ones extra today and tonight. Keep Larry in your prayers.

Bennie,

Oh, I am so sorry!  It sounds as if their protocol is right; I know it must be scary to see him like that but it's for the best outcome.

All my best to you, Bratcat, and family,

Sue

Suebear he is only 52. He has high blood pressure and is overweight but no other signs of heart problems.
They took him off the paralyzing drug because they weren't getting the twitch results they would look for regularly. It did lower his temperature so he is back to breathing on his own with his low temperature and not shivering yet. They now have to wait for the paralyzing drug to leave his body to do the EEG and CT scan.
Did I mention that I hate waiting? I understand the reasoning but that doesn't make it easier.

I'm heading to the hospital now. I don't have internet on my phone (or a laptop) so I have to wait to either use my son's blackberry or come home later.

Keep those prayers coming please.

Healingwell has had great success with their prayers. We have seen some miracles here. I will add him (and your family) to my prayers.
27 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night.  I take xanax prn for situational anxiety (aka no easy bathroom access).
