Hi....how exactly were the results written?

The normal could mean no precancerous or change in cells.

Visible inflammation could be from the purge, but I would think it would have showed up as very mild inflammation but with no visible cell structure changes..etc.

Do you have the results of the report?

I don't have a copy of the results, I did see them though and each biopsy was listed and just said normal mucosa no abnormalities found. GI said I needed to continue with treatment as he had seen and had pics of the inflamation being present at colonoscopy.

Last colonoscopy done by surgeon less than 8mths previously had no visible inflamation but biopsy results (which I do have a copy of) showed mucosal oedema with loss of normal vascular pattern and granularity consistent with mild to moderate resolving colitis.

Its just so confusing.

Thanks for replying.

well, the other thing could be misreading of biopsies....which I'm sure happens.

It's good the doc said for you to continue your meds....

Are you having any symptoms?

Initially symptoms improved. As soon as I finished taking predfoam symptoms returned. Ended up very sick last wkend and doc had to put me back on Ciprofloxacin again. Every time I stop taking Cipro within 2 to 3 weeks I end up sick again.

Had MRI done on Wednesday.....awaiting results.

Thank you for reply

Curious why you're on Cipro...does the doc suspect c.diff? or do you have CD?

Definitely keep us posted as to how you're doing.

Regarding the rectal meds....they should really be tapered to a maintenance dosage.

Hi Q,

I wish I knew, as when I checked up Cipro on the internet it seems to be used to treat Crohns rather than UC. Yet it is the only thing that really helps when I am very sick. (pain in lower and upper left abdomen, only able to eat small amounts and then vomiting it most of the time, unable to have a BM and alot of gurgling sounds in upper left side). Am still awaiting a definate diagnoses. But the GI is thinking that I may have crohns and he is also querying that I may have stricture/s even though surgeon says UC. Have a family history of crohns. Lets hope the MRI might clarify it.

Will let you know when I get the MRI results.

Definitely sounds complicated....when are you going for an MRI??

Have you had stool samples done to make sure there are no other 'bugaboos" in the colon?

Curious why you saw a surgeon...is he the one who did the c-scope?

Had MRI on last Wednesday.....will probably be a few wks before I get results. Will let you know.

Have not had a stool sample done with a few years now. Might ask doc to do one.

My previous colonoscopy (biopsy results showing resolving colitis) was done by surgeon (my symptoms which were mild on and off for yrs were put down to IBS), who then referred me to GI for small bowel follow through, but GI wanted to repeat colonoscopy, and now MRI. Blood work done also shows inflamation (not sure but I think it is high ESR levels).

Thanks for your replies it is nice to hear from people who understand as you don,t get very long in docs office to ask questions and it is always when I get home I think of all the questions I should have asked.

I think this site is a great.

Hi...you're welcome. I can relate to not remembering or asking some questions..even though I write them down...sigh.

Was your MRI for your whole abdomen? Did you have a contrast solution done during the procedure?

I had an MRCP done....it was for my liver specifically, but the entire abdomen was done.

I did, however, purchase the CD of my test....you could get one if you're interested and you enquire from the hospital/clinic Where it was done. nice to have it and look at how my innards look..lol.

Hi kay...definitely enquire, for one never realises until the option comes available.

When do you go for the results?

Oh, ask the doctor for a copy of the results at the very least...because I know for sure photocopy machines are in Ireland..lol!

Have a good weekend!
