Well, went for my visit to the GI doctor today and he is at the limit for treatment for me.  I am going over to the Univ of PA Hospital for a consult with Dr. Liechenstein at the recommendation of my doctor.  I have to wait till Sept 24th, so hoping maybe I will be better by then.  The pain in my rectum is wearing me down.  I woke at 3 am and had to take a hydrocodone.  I have no idea where this is going to lead as I am not a candidate for Remicade and the doctor said surgery may be an option but he wants someone with plenty of experience to do it because of my age and other health issues.  So just keep me in your prayers guys.

I hope that the new GI can help you figure something out! I wish that the rectal meds did more for you...it's kind of odd that they don't, given where your inflammation is. I'll definitely keep you in my thoughts (sorry....not a religious person, but I will send some good vibes your way!).
Status: Remission since late May 2009!
Symptoms began in November 2008, ~4 weeks after giving birth to my son.
Diagnosed with pancolitis on 1/30/09
Currently taking Apriso (4 pills ONCE!! daily), Rowasa twice weekly, Natural Factors Ultimate probiotic 12/12 Formula, and Zoloft (25 mg).

Wow Christine....sounds serious now considering the consultation your doc is extending with another doc.

Hope the decision comes sooner.

I am so sorry about the bad news Christine. I hope you can find a treatment that helps you quickly.
Diagnosed with mild proctitis in March 2007: Treated with Canasa (as needed)
December 08: Began treating with Asacol 400mg (9/day) + Canasa 2x/day - Anemic
May 09: Off Canasa, taking Asacol (9/day)
Back on Canasa every other night + Asacol (9/day) + Probiotics + Iron
Reducing to 6 Asacol/day + Canasa + Probiotics + Iron - So far so good!!! -SPOKE TOO SOON! Back to 9/day...

Heather, I take 100 mgm of 6MP now along with 30 mgm of prednisone (tapering 5 mgm per week from 40 mgm), nine Colazal daily, Cort enemas nightly and Canasa in the mornings...also, probiotics, fish oil capsule and multivitamin.  My main problem is that tiny portion at the end of the rectum.  Really painful!  I don't have diarrhea.  As a matter of fact, I didn't even move my bowels today at all!  That sort of concerns me because it may mean I will go at least three times tomorrow.  I'm not bleeding anymore either.  Just wish I knew exactly what was going on down there.  I take a multivitamin with Iron....wonder if that may be binding me.  But I feel so tired all the time.   Another odd thing, prednisone usually increases my blood pressure, sometimes to alarming levels.  However, in this flare, my pressure has been 110/60, so I cut out my Toprol xl and only take the Benicar...don't want to fall on my face..lol.  Weird!

Thanks Sunshine.  I also have diverticulosis, so any kind of seeds are no no's.
