Yes I have noticed more people seem to go on to remecade than have cyclosporin,I thought this was beacause remicade (infliximab) seems to be offered routinely in the US for UC, where as it is not the case in the uk,also I when I had cyclosporin they made it clear it was a last shot, if it did not work,I would have to go for emergency surgery,I remember them telling me it had only a small chance of sucess,It is quite toxic and has to be administered carefully,I had 5 days IV,then 3 months oral,my blood had to be monitered every week to check the levels in my system,I felt pretty crap while I was taking it,but it did buy me enough time, for my colon to heal a bit,(it was so bad at this point the lining had started to degenerate),and for the Azathriopine to kick in,so I guess you could say it worked for me,but it is not an experience I would like to repeat.
