I went back for my follow-up.  I ended up on pred for a week because of another problem I was having with a shoulder muscle.
GI Dr feels that I will flair back up as soon as I am done with the pred especially since I am going to try to quit smoking again next week. So I agreed to try Lailda cause the last flair is still fresh in my mind.  I am concerned about taking this because I don't want to tax my liver.  I am terrified of getting PSC or PBC as my mother has PBC.
Something I am taking is giving me the shakes. I am not sure what. Irony of all of this is that the very drug GI DR goes against the allergists advice to cut out the salicylates! The hemotolgist wants me on salicylates.  I don't know this all so overwhelming...3 months ago I thought I was healthy.
Left sided UC: Diagnosed 7/09

Well, I have been on 3-4 (depending on need) Lialda daily for over a year now with no side effects. I have not had blood work done in a while to look at liver function but probably will at my yearly next month. I have not noticed any liver problems though and I am on the highest does of Lialda. It does seem to help somewhat for me...

I have been on 4 Lialda daily since February and 20 mg of Prednisone and so far all my liver functions have been normal and I haven't noticed any side effects from it.  I was having elevated liver thingys before I started the Lialda and then they went down after starting it.   But my dr still has my blood checked every couple months to make sure it's not elevating again.
Good luck to you.
