Since i have been dx, half my mind is always thinking how will my stools be the next day-especially during lunch & dinner time....worst thing to think abt especially when sitting on dining table !!

i have decided to keep this aside and think abt what i love to do... i love gardening, as a kid i used to help my dad grow all vegetables in our kitchen garden....used to be fun! I have very little space available - just a small patio with evening sunlight and i am trying to grow some veggies there... have sown seeds of peas, cilantro, reddish, fennel & fenugreek. Fenugreek are already up and growing in just a week... i have till now used old boxes to plant the seeds - was just checking if it works... now i will replant in bigger pots...m happy!

these are my fenugreek growing...2 weeks old....i love them!! will re-pot them soon:

I enjoy reading a lot. It takes me away into a different world and lets me relax. If I didn't have UC, I'd enjoy taking a walk or a bike ride around outside... I'd also enjoy camping, fishing etcetc.

I like to sing a lot even though I'm not good at it.. it just puts me in a happy mood... I have always wanted to go to a karaoke bar... and still haven't.
Kara, 22F Married.
Latest - Lialda 2 twice a day. Left Sided Colitis 40cm up...flare. Also IBS.
Medications: Lialda 2 twice a day, Align probiotic, Hyomax as needed, 6mp 50mg a day, Rowasa enemas.
I am so sick of this disease!

We just had a thread on this last week but here are a few of my favorite things:

Sports - playing and watching all kinds, I especially enjoy running.
Reading - almost anything and everything. Recently I have been reading a lot of biographies and books on spirituality.
Traveling - I have lived in several parts of the world, and want to get out and see more. Having UC has limited some of that, but I'll be back on the road soon.

TLB37, if you like NASCAR then don't forget to also support Scott Speed #82. He has UC.

Saposs, I'm not much of a gardener nowadays, but after leaving NYC and before moving to the DC area, I took a few years out to go to Africa and manage a large group of farms. It was an amazing experience. We grew baby corn, baby carrots, beans, snow peas, sugar snaps, flowers...and much more.
Rio, 33 year old male. Diagnosed with UC in 2006
Azathioprine (stopped), 4800 mg Asacol
VSL#3, Metamucil
Vitamin E enema or Canasa/Mesacol suppository occasionally

I am most passionate about dance. I love to dance and have taken many forms of dance. Currently, I'm taking Indian classical dance.
Joy - 47 yrs and counting; Dx Colitis Dec 06 (also had IBS); Currently in remission

Figuring out how to reduce a flare or get into remission is a trial and error experience. Don't expect your GI to have all the answers. He was trained in making diagnoses, prescribing medications, and surgically removing the colon. He was not trained in alternative treatments. That's why they are called alternative treatments.

What works for me: Fecal transplantation, Probiotics, Anti-inflammatory foods, No HFCS, No foods high in fructose, No artificial sweeteners, No pro-inflammatory foods when flaring, Vitamins, Lexapro (for stress).
