I read that Slippery Elm is a good drink for inflammation/ulcers/stomach/bowels.

Anyone tried it?

I tried it on and off for a couple years. I never saw any improvement that I thought was tied to it, but I liked the idea that it was soothing for my intestines. I read about it on dr. andrew weil's website and I think the site had some slippery elm tea preparation tips. I used to mix the powder with hot water and maybe add honey. It definitely didn't make me worse. You probably have nothing to lose in trying it.

I tried it and didn't see much improvement. It tastes horrible.
Diagnosed with mild proctitis in March 2007: Treated with Canasa (as needed)
December 08: Began treating with Asacol 400mg (9/day) + Canasa 2x/day - Anemic
May 09: Off Canasa, taking Asacol (9/day)
Back on Canasa every other night + Asacol (9/day) + Probiotics + Iron
Reducing to 6 Asacol/day + Canasa + Probiotics + Iron - So far so good!!! -SPOKE TOO SOON! Back to 9/day...

Same as the others. No benefit seen, and it doesn't taste good -- although not even close to tasting as foul as some of the Chinese herbal powders I tried a while back. I bought slippery elm capsules and would then empty out the powder from them into a mug of warm water.
