Arrrgggghhhh! We can send a man to a moon, yet we still have this archaic, demonic prep procedure. I haven't even started the prep yet, but I already have a horrendous headache from the clear liquid diet.

Did I mention I'm sick of apple juice?

Doing the MoviPrep this time. It has been a different prep every time I've had a scope so far. I had Miralax the last time, and the volume of fluid made me really sick. I threw up all night. I plan to start earlier today so I can go slower if I start having trouble.

If I make it until tomorrow morning, it's all good from there. I'll get some good drugs, have a nice nap, then come home and get some protein in me. Thanks for the good wishes!

I had my last colonoscopy in 2006 and am due for another in September. I feel your pain! As you know the prep is probably the worst part so you're almost home free. Good Luck!

Oh Gosh! I hope it all goes well for you! I've not had a c-scope myself, but I sure hate watching my kiddos go through it.

Keep us posted on how it is going and how tomorrow goes. Here's hoping for an easy prep and no surprises during the scope!!

Bad when we look forward to the actual scope..lol!

I couldn't do the clear liquid day before stuff either....did that once with Fleet..ugh.

I have one in Sept and requested the GoLytely again...down the hatch, and even though it's a gallon of fluid, it's doable for me.

Let us know how it all goes Carol....I empathisise.

I always call it "green jello" day as that is what I usually have......that and chicken boullion.

I have to have one yearly so I am due in October. Last year I tried the pills......YUK. I thought I was going to explode. I think I will go back to the Fleet stuff mixed with Gingerale. Not pleasant but of all the ones I tried over the past 30 years of tests, tolerable.

And then I spend time thinking about what I will have for brunch after the scope.

I really had a hard day, for some reason. about mid-afternoon I got a terrible headache and got queasy feeling. But the time I needed to start the MoviPrep I wasn't sure I'd be able to keep any of it down. I made it, though. Finished the first lot just before 5, was living on the john by 5:30. And I do mean living. I couldn't even get up to go drink my fluids. I eventually had my husband bring them to the bathroom for me.

I've read most of a book and have been running clear since 7:30, so decided to skip the second lot of prep. Now I just need it to stop running - clear or otherwise. One thing I do love about this prep is that it isn't burning the skin off my butt when it comes out.

Thanks to everyone for supporting me through this. I'm hoping I can actually get some sleep some time tonight.

I'm wondering why people who have trouble with large fluid volume don't try Halflytely-- less to drink + fewer pills. Hope you're over the worst of it by now, Judy! Good luck tomorrow. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

I have my prep with Dulcolax and Miralax with Gatorade a week from today and was wondering if trying to drink 64 oz of gatorade one of the days before prep would help me get used to holding that much liquid? I hate vomiting so I am trying to find ways to keep that from happening.

Wow...drinking that much gatorade makes me want to puke now....I know I'd pass on that too.

It's not so bad doing the gallon prep...or maybe as Old Hat suggested..the HalfLytely? with Ducolax?

The prep didn't make me sick this time, so much as the whole clear liquid thing. I think I probably let my blood sugar get too low, and paid the price for it for the rest of the day. It's really hard for me to choke down sugary drinks, even fruit juices.

The scope was fine, but did show a little friability in the rectum and lower sigmoid. I'll be off to the pharmacy tomorrow armed with my scripts for Proctifoam and hydrocortisone suppositories.

lol, I came home, ate a bowl of soup, then napped for the rest of the afternoon. I'm now well-rested, which is a rare thing.

Awesome to hear the rest of the prep was OK.

Sucks about the inflammation, but good you have the meds to treat it.

When do you go for the biopsy results?

Glad you got thru it o.k. If you have friability in the sigmoid/rectum, I don't think Proctofoam will do much of anything. Probably a good idea to watch spices. Black (& even white) pepper turn up in many prepared foods these days; they wreak havoc on my problem places, mainly the sigmoid. I assume it's because UC thins the mucosa over time so it's more easily irritated by what's in the waste. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.]) *********** P.S. QUINCY-- Halflytely comes with its own pills-- so Dulcolax is not necessary in addition.

I'm glad to hear you made it thru the prep "ordeal"! :) Kinda stinks about the inflammation though. But it seems you may of caught it early which is a good thing.

My mom just had a colonoscopy with the moviprep and she loved it compared to the other stuff! Supposedly the way they used to do it was actually really bad for you. I just had my first one a year ago and it was different but for mine on tuesday I'm getting the moviprep too.

My poor mom thought you were supposed to drink 16 ounces of fluid after every 8oz, not after the 32 though! It was funny afterward but she drank waaaay too much lol.

My husband had to do the same thing. That's when you know it's love that'll last even in the nursing home--when you're calling for your laxative from the toilet and they rush in with it!! LOL
