Ok, so this is totally off-topic, but I wanted to see if any of you have had this happen.  As I've mentioned before, I had to stop breastfeeding my son when he was about 8 weeks old because I was so sick that my supply was basically gone and he wasn't getting enough to eat.  However, I still haven't totally stopped producing milk in my right breast.  It's not doesn't leak or anything and I don't feel full, but I get curious every now and then and give it a squeeze, and there is always some milk there.
I wasn't worried about this at all, mostly because I started producing colostrum very early on in my 15 weeks or something.  However, the last few days, I've had these little tingly feelings in one area of my right breast, kind of on the bottom side of the nipple.  It doesn't hurt or sting or anything, it's just a little zing.  It doesn't feel like it's on the surface, but kind of deep.  It seems to happen every few minutes for an hour or so, then will go away for a while, then come back.
Has anyone had this happen?  Do you think it could at all be related to the continued milk production?  I see my GP on Monday to talk about going off of Zoloft, and plan to mention it to him, even though he's not my OBGYN, as he is a full-spectrum GP and does OBGYN as well.

Oh, and mods, if you'd like me to delete this as it's so off-topic, I understand!

No. It hasn't happened to me. But I did get a clogged duct when I was nursing and was worried that it was breast cancer.

I wouldn't worry about, but of course it's always good to let your doctors know.
Joy - 47 yrs and counting; Dx Colitis Dec 06 (also had IBS); Currently in remission

Figuring out how to reduce a flare or get into remission is a trial and error experience. Don't expect your GI to have all the answers. He was trained in making diagnoses, prescribing medications, and surgically removing the colon. He was not trained in alternative treatments. That's why they are called alternative treatments.

What works for me: Fecal transplantation, Probiotics, Anti-inflammatory foods, No HFCS, No foods high in fructose, No artificial sweeteners, No pro-inflammatory foods when flaring, Vitamins, Lexapro (for stress).

It sounds a bit like the early stages of mastitis (infected milk duct). You can get pretty sick pretty quickly if it is, so watch closely for signs like heat in the area, redness then if it progresses, fever, headache, body aches, chills, etc.

Hot compresses help. If you get the any of the above symptoms, call your doctor asap.

Hopefully it is just the milk "drying" up. I have heard of rare instances where SSRI's (like zoloft) can cause a bit of lactation so perhaps it could be causing your milk to take longer to quit producing altogether.

Hope it is nothing -keep us posted.

Julie (over 3 years of nursing experience w/several bouts of mastitis - ick!!)

I didnt get much milk in and couldnt have breastfed anyway but i put cabbage leaves on to make it stop producing at all. But for about three or four days after i stopped having any milk i had random shooting pains. Then it just went away.
