I had a brown jelly mix after my ileostomy surgery and the doc was not worried about
it. You know your body and you know if a flare is coming. You may be trying to keep it at bay because of the medication change. I did very well on 6MPs but I was always worried about
catching something. I actually got shingles while on 6MPs- not fun but not as bad as a UC flare. We can tolerate a lot!
If you do start 6MPs, just be cautious of who is sick and wash your hands often. They will monitor your blood more frequently so they will know if you are getting sick or if your levels are off. I liked 6MPs more than the steroids but I guess it is just a personal thing. Steroids gave me more noticeable side effects like weight gain, eating more and greater cravings, and the water retention. While on 6MPs I felt so much more normal. The steroids did a number on my mental health too...
Good luck and keep us posted. Don't forget to be
open with your doc so they know what you are thinking and what you would rather have...
