Hi Everyone,

None of you may know me anymore because I haven't been on in a while, I have successfully been being treated with Remicade for about 2 1/2 years with no relapses whatsoever.

But, I met a really great guy, we're getting married next month, and I want to try to get pregnant. Although I've heard of perfectly healthy babies beig born on Remicade, there's something I just don't trust about brand new drugs. What happens if in 20 years something is wrong with my child?  I'm told it takes about 8 weeks to get Remicade to get out of your system, so I decided to go off.  Lo and behold, I'm in another flare :(

I guess the only reason I'm here is that I could really use some support and understanding (as the 40 mg of prednisone I'm on certainly doesn't provide that LOL), and I remember spending much time here before Remicade was available to the public and I was flaring a lot, it was a huge comfort to me knowing others were out there and going thru what I was going thru.

So, hi for the first time to all the newbies and hi again to all the 'oldies' LOL!

I look forward to hearing from you all soon :)

Wow Amber. What a pleasant surprise. Welcome back. We all missed you. I happened to read some of your old posts.

Sorry to hear that you have flared up again. But don't worry. it must have been because of too much stress which you have taken in just thinking about what is going to happen during pregnancy. The things would be fine. There are lots of members, who have had healthy babies out here despite Pred and I suppose even Remicade. Just relax. I am very happy to know that you have found the right guy. - Mr. Right in your life. I am sure you would be very happy with him. So keep us posted. Lots and lots of hugs and good wishes/positive energies

((Amber!)) I am so happy you have found that special someone to share you life with, congratulations on that! :) I can totally understand you wanting to be off Remicade to have children. Some docs usually say it's safe to be on Remi while being pregnant but I would be the same way. I wouldn't trust it. So what meds are you on now?

That is a tough situation. I hope you have luck getting out of this flare without taking heavy duty meds so you can get pregnant and be happy.
Diagnosed with mild proctitis in March 2007: Treated with Canasa (as needed)
December 08: Began treating with Asacol 400mg (9/day) + Canasa 2x/day - Anemic
May 09: Off Canasa, taking Asacol (9/day)
Back on Canasa every other night + Asacol (9/day) + Probiotics + Iron
Reducing to 6 Asacol/day + Canasa + Probiotics + Iron - So far so good!!! -SPOKE TOO SOON! Back to 9/day...
