A friend sent me a link to a spondylitis website and it showed that ankylosing spondylitis sometimes occurs in people with UC and Crohn's ... I wonder if this is what many of us have who complain about tailbone/back/hip pain???

ankylosing spondylitis is an autoimmune arthritic disorder that causes joint pain, muscle aches and fatigue. Women start having pain in different places than men and many people are misdiagnosed ... I just read up on this condition and it seems spookily similar to some of our body aches and joint complaints ...

What are your thoughts?

Hi.I don't believe it's connected to CD, but it is to UC.

You can be checked for it...

My father had it and my sister has it...I have UC. I tested that I don't have AS, but I do have osteoarthritis.

Better than assuming you have it.

AS is a pretty significant dx. I don't really see alot of posts that I would say may be AS. Just from reading some of the threads, I wish I could get ahold of several people in here. I think I could get rid of alot of their problems related to the hip and SI joints, and save them alot of their time.

I just thought this tidbit was interesting anyway ... found a UC page on Facebook and found several mentions of people who were diagnosed this with their UC ... I haven't really delved too deep in the Facebook page to see how the diagnosis came to be or anything like that though ...

Ask the questions because some may assume the pain they have is AS since it can be linked to UC.

The testing should be done to confirm.

It sucks to have the pain as well as flaring...

Dr. A....I get incredible relief from my chiro adjustments. I just don't go often enough for my tune-ups.
