The prep was well worth the news I got this morning....I am totally in remission, and the doc couldn't find any inflammation anywhere, and no ulcers or polyps. He is going to send a new order for the Remi; instead of every eight weeks, it's every twelve weeks! Then if things continue to improve, I'm on to just maintenance meds! Yippee! I've been having some hiccups since July, but he gave me some Elavil that helped with the pain which he said was just a slight inflammation. If it occurs again he'll do an ultrasound to check the area again. I feel like I have such great care with this doc, and even my husband was impressed with him and his bedside manner. So, thanks Remi and Dr. Lawson!

Great news Carol!  Looks like we're on the same track.  We started Remi around the same time and we will hopefully end around the same time.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my last infusion will be just that - my last!

Hope this works for you!  :)

Thanks everyone, you have supported me through so much and I'm so thankful for my HW family! My husband today was the rock; I'm so glad he was there...don't remember much, ha! Tried to give him directions to the parking lot while still under anesthesia, go figure everyone was laughing. Worse yet, how did I get to be so assertive -- I mean still trying to give direction under anesthesia? Hee hee. Glad everyone had a sense of humor! ;-) He gave me all the great details though and really, I'm very happy. Again, thanks everyone...you are truly wonderful.

They usually email lab test results within 24 hours, so I'm expecting them soon. If there are any huge problems, he will call me in for an appt.

That's wonderful news! I know I couldn't believe it when I got the same report recently. I'm still pinching myself. Bet you are, too! :-)

Carol, that is great news! I'm curious for my own personal reasons, what did you GI say about eventually going off Remicade? I don't really like the idea of being on it the rest of my life.

He said if I do well with the Remi treatments being further apart, then he'd start trying maintenance meds such as Imuran or Asacol. First time around I didn't fare well with Asacol, so I'll have to make that determination when the time comes. ;-)
