Does anyone else experience a bad taste in their mouth after a BM? It's kind of metallic. I tend to brush my teeth afterwards or drink something and that takes care of it.

thanks!

Never had that...and you're not taking flagyl? That's about the only thing I know of that can cause the metallic taste in the mouth.

:)
My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it! LOL :)

No, can't say I've had that either......you might be deficient in something possibly?

Could it be the type of toothpaste you use or maybe facial lotion or something like that?

Could be a bit of reflux??

Maybe if you're pushing or being uncomfortable in the way of feeling distressed, that could cause a reaction where your mouth may be drier...?

Are you using any sleeping pills? some can cause metallic taste in the mouth.

Hope you find the answer, because that feeling or taste isn't nice.

Hi,
No, not pushing or anything like that. I've had this reaction for years, before being diagnosed with UC. I'm thinking of mentioning it to my Naturopath.

Thanks for your interest.

I had a naturopath app. this morning. She said a metallic tastes leads her to think of some sort of acid reflux. She found it interesting that I thought this was normal since i've had it for years before being diagnosed with UC. She said it gives her a better idea of how my GI tract is working.

thanks for checking in. WIth this disease, and the whole yuckiness around the symptoms, I 've no one to talk to. This forum is so great.

Well, I second the reflux...what did she suggest to take for it?

If she suggested nothing, use Zantac which you can buy over the counter...twice a day either 75mg to start or 150mg...

It's not related to UC, however, that I know of...most people have reflux and don't realise it until other issues surface...

Hi Quincy,
You know, I've lived with it for so long it really doesn't bother me. I just brush my teeth a little more often. It's only after a bm, which for me is 1-2 a day...or else constipation.
thanks again,
