My Doc had recommended probiotics about 4 months ago and had mentioned VSL and PB8. I ordered the VSL and it seems to have helped some... I tried adding the PB8 and it didn't do anything. A week ago I bought Ultimate Flora Critical Care and started taking it morning and night (and continuing one dose of VSL midday)....

Since I started this whole UC thing 23 years ago, even when in remission the best I can get is 3 or 4 stools a day, so I consider that "good normal."

Well, wow!! Today I've had three formed ones! I know I need to be patient and see "what the trend is" to quote a good Doc friend, in case this is a fluke....

But I am ridiculously happy about this, and thanks to this forum, there are actually folks I can report this to without feeling silly!!
Asacol - 16 pills a day
Metamucil - 2 doses
VSL#3, Ultimate Flora Critical Care
Cortenemas (not for much longer I hope!)

Yippee........ really glad for you and I hope this continues. I have tried VSL#3 myself and liked it but gave it up because it was so expensive and I could not find a deal.

Yes, probiotics are quite essential for IBD, we tend to have bacterial over-growth issues, just be sure to continue taking them indefinitely (flaring or not).

My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it! LOL :)
