I came across this article on chlorella and it's supposed good effect on UC.

Was wondering if anybody here has gotten positive results from it?

The article prompted me to do some more research and here's what I found
http://www.sunchlorellausa.com/scusa-pdf/PR-on-Ulcerative-Colitis.pdf

Now I want to know even more! It sounds like this was a pretty small trial...it would definitely be nice to see some further, more in-depth research!

Thanks for the other link.

Oh, if you want it to be clickable, don't post it in the quick reply....post it from the Post reply button.

Hey Fruitgirl,

Any idea when that pdf was published? If the original trial was in 1999, I just seem to be skeptical why nothing has come out in 10 years! But you're right, it definitely has me curious now...

Well, you know, it's in my nature! And it's my job, since I'm in agricultural research...definitely don't want to repeat something that's already been done! Sometimes I think I might have missed my calling as a research librarian. I'm a dork, I know, but I love digging up info about anything and everything. And libraries are just wonderful.

Thanks for the tip on how to make links clickable! :)

NiRo...don't worry too much about the time lines..old info is still good info. 5ASA meds have been out in earnest for well over 20 years...oral and rectal...and docs of today still use pred as a first-line meds for UC. Something screwy (I choose a stronger word) with that picture!!!!!

Takes a while for stuff it seems, but to the detriment of the patient.

Easy is the road....some things never change.

No idea as to when the pdf was orignially published. My guess as to why there's not been any more research done on it is because of the money required to do a really in-depth trial. I imagine the people who manufacture it don't yet have enough money to do so.

I had read about the trial at VCU and tried chlorella and chlorophyll liquid for a month or so. It was a good energy boost, but other than that I didn't see any benefit from it.

Hey Rio, I did chlorophyll liquid for about 3 months myself and the only thing different that I noticed was green poop, very dark green, but didn't notice any benefits for either my CD or IBS...If i come across the chlorella I may try it, but if it's basically the same as chlorophyll then I may not bother, I'll have to talk to my health food store lady to get the scoop on it.

:)
My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it! LOL :)

Quincy and pb4...yes it goes in green, and comes out very green!

pb4, the chlorella I got was from Vitamin Shoppe, so I know it's easily available in the US. It's worth a try.
