I have been feeling pretty crummy for about 2 weeks now.  Only one day had blood that I could see, but the other days I have had tons of gas and pain and pressure in my abdomen.  Not sure if it is UC, hormones, or I caught some kind of GI bug.  I have had on and off diahhrea during this time.  I have started to feel a bit better the last 2 days, but my poo is still really "mushy" and this morning after 2 previous bowel movements I had a third that was really mushy and had a lot of mucous in it.  My question is.....am I on the mend or does the mucous signal I am going the wrong direction?

Depends. What were your symptoms previously?

What meds are you on at this time....still the Rowasa nightly? for how long?

You might want to consider a fibre supplement to help bulk the stool..it also softens it making it much easier to expel if your rectum is inflamed.

How long was it since you were got off pred..or are you still on it tapering?

Seems you're at a crossroads....hang tough....been there a few times.

Are you on any probiotics?

On VSL#3, off prednisone for a while like over a year, still taking the Rowasa nightly, and am on a fiber supplement. Also taking a supplement wtih a ton of Omega-3's. I know that if you take too much fish oil that can cause D, but not too sure about the Omega-3's.

Previous flares have usually always been thin poo and blood, but 2 years ago, had a horrendous flare and it was all D, no blood. So, hard to tell. I do know that I have a really hard time with changing hormones, so that could be a contributor. Still on the 9 Colazal a day as well.

Rowasa for the entire year nightly? That's a long while for sure.

Could also be the Colazal as well as the Omegas...it gives me a very loose stool.

The VSL can as well I think...

How is your diet?

When was your last c-scope?

have you had any stool testing done....maybe you should to make sure nothing else is going on.

hormonal ups and downs suck....can loosen stuff up.

Yup, if I don't take the Rowasa, I have issues. C-scope 1 year ago, and scheduled for Sept 14. Have not had any stool testing. really been feeling great until about 2 weeks ago. I started spotting (right around the time I should be ovulating) and have had issues ever since. That leads me to believe that it is hormonal, but the hormones are causing the UC issues. Stupid hormones!!
