What problems are you having? What meds are you taking?
I have had my jpouch for 8 years and take no meds; I am fine.

dx proctitis in 1987
dx UC in 1991, was stable until 1998

1998 started prednisone, asacol, pentasa, nortriptylene, ativan, 6MP, rowasa enemas and suppositories, hydrocortisone enemas, tried the SCD diet, being a vegetarian, omega 3s, flax, pranic healing, yoga, acupuncture, probiotics

2000 lost all my B-12 stores and became anemic

2001 opted for j-pouch surgery- now living life med-free

yes, there are some people that still need to take meds (antidiarrheal, antispasmodic, antibiotics, etc.) for various reasons. Try posting your question on j-pouch.org.

I'm so sorry to hear this.  That has to be terribly frustrating to deal with, and I hope you will find some relief.
This is one of my fears about having to stop taking meds (as much as I hate being on them and risking the side effects) and go down the surgery path.  Because my GI at one point mentioned inflammation at the ileum and that I might be dealing with a Crohn's/UC combo, I would fear putting myself through surgery only to become more diseased in the small intestine and wind up right back where I started with meds.
I'll be thinking and praying for you.

Diagnosed in 2007
Currently on:
Asacol 6pills/day
Biweekly injections for Humira clinical trial-going well so far!!
Back on Canasa temporarily because I took Biaxin for sinuses and started seeing streaks of blood again.
Also take multivitamins and milk thistle daily.
