Ok for 10 years I had undiagnosed UC..My symptoms werent too bad I didn't think anything was wrong I was just glad I was regular even if it woke me up early and it looked like mud..

Now that I have been on the current meds for about a month things have changed but I am not sure it's for the better.  I no longer wake up having to go but I do HAVE to go soon after I wake up.  80 percent of the time it's formed.  Usually I have to go a good bit of formed and then it turns to mud or and hour or two later I have to go and it's mud..

I am going 3 to 4 times a day with out sudden urgency. But now I have what is a period of time that starts out as uncomfortable or full feeling, then to cramping, to needing to go.

It's sad to say but it was less uncomfortable prior to diagnosis plus the side effects such as hair loss ( I have plenty to spare so I am trying not to freak out), Puffy Eyes ( I have never had this before without good reason), And general feeling swolen all the time like water retention...

Granted I am not in flare and no where as miserable as that but  still..  Anyone feel like this?
Left sided UC: Diagnosed 7/09
Currently on Pred 40mg, Lailda 2.4 once a day
Supplements: Bromelain 3 times a day, Tummeric 3 times a day, Good Belly probiotics 1 time a day. Multi, Vit D, B-complex...

currently on the down side of a flair....

It might be the Lialda...

I was just diagnosed a year ago and the ONLY symptom I had was mucous.  After I started on the drugs, things got worse, urgency, multiple trips to the bathroom... While I was on Lialda I had that same kind of bowel movement you are describing- the first one was fine and then the subsequent ones were very soft (and mine got skinnier with each poo also!).

After doubling my dose, it got worse so they took me off of that.  The urgency, multiple trips etc havent gone away though even with not being on Lialda...

Do you think your body could just be taking it's own sweet time adjusting to the sensation of having formed stool in it?
Ulcerative Colitis, dx in 1998 at age 18
Rowasa morning and night, Asacol 2x4
Allergic to Sulfasalzine
Now I take no meds or supplements (but some asacol on-hand if I feel a flare-up coming on)

Yes maybe I am not used to being full but this is an ALL over body bloat...Scale hasn't moved but everything is tight and gets tighter during the day.  Except for some coffee in the morning all I drink is water and I avoid really salty stuff.  It's like PMS swelling 24/7.  Even my fingers are puffy and the more active I get the more swollen I get...

I see that you are on 40 mg of pred. If you are not in a flare why the pred? That will make you swollen and puffy for sure! I would suspect that is the reason you are bloated.
Dx 2006 right after the birth of my daughter
Lialda 2 pills a day
Cort-enemas as needed
Canasa as needed
Probiotics Daily

If you are swollen make sure you have your blood pressure checked too.  Prednisone plays havoc with my BP.

call the doctor and get it checked out. If it's different, then you should get it checked out.
