Any suggestions on gas med? I get really bad gas everyday starting around 5pm and sometimes it last throughout the whole night. I know this is gross but it's like I can't pass it! I'll get in all kids of positions but it doesnt really work! Is it trapped? I can't always tell if I need to use the bathroom or just pass gas, so everytime I feel it I have to run to the bathroom. It's really embarrassing! Good thing my boyfriend understands lol!! But as soon as I actually "go'' the gas is gone...sometimes for only a lil bit though. Help me!! Its painfull. Ive tried BeanO and Gas X...No luck eyes

SaXxy..are you flaring at this time? Are you on any rectal meds?

Is this a continual that you might be able to connect to certain foods, lets say with milk in them? or possibly artificial sweeteners?

where in the colon is your UC..limited or throughout?

I lean more towards you flaring with low rectal inflammation...I get that and dealing with it early is probably the best thing...

When I have gas I rub my tummy clockwise (and if it's not too incredibly painful do some crunches), but mostly I think a cup of hot dandelion tea helps (or maybe any hot tea) then lay down after you drink it. Also, I sleep on my right side, so when I get gas, I first switch to my back, and when I feel it bubble up somewhere else, I lay on my left side and it kinda helps get it out. I do that a few times til it feels better.

I'm not on any meds at the moment...my doctor only seems to put me on Asacol when I have a bad flare, and I really don't think it works for me..Ive told him that too. UGH. Im in search of a new dr at the moment because I just found out he really doesnt know much about UC and Im one of his "worse off" patients. (Hes new at this) Anyway, I take vitamins and fish oil every day....also a probiotic but Im out =( My colitis is throughout my whole colon. I was diagnosed in October of 2006, and I feel like it's only getting worse. I mean I have my good days like today =) but I have more bad days.
Thanks for the advise....I will deff try it out!

I had bad bouts of gas when I first woke up each morning ... I started taking fiber supplements several times a day and now the gas is under control. It may help you as well. I would take fiber supplement pills rather than the stuff you mix in a drink.

Also, I do a few exercises in the morning - some jumping jacks and toe touches - and it really helps push some gas out.

And if I am REALLY desperate, I will drink a small cup of coffee (really runs through me) and that "flushes" out the system!

supersaw, I suggested it because it helps me with inflammation and stuff and since the gas is a recurring problem with SaXxy I thought maybe they'd wanna go get some (and notice I said any hot tea =p )

And I don't think beer would help lol. Well, not me anyways =p

Coffee seems to help with my gas. Trouble with the coffee is it used to make me run to the john, but now that my UC seems to be under control, a 12oz cup of coffee in the morning does the trick.

Best solution to frequent gas and a case of water butt is soluble fiber, not insoluble fiber. Stay away from anything wheat anything and milk. I love coffee, but cannot drink the stuff without having major gas pains. Aerobic activity in the mornings works well in combination with the other suggestions for me. Every person has a different opinion. I try to correct my condition with diet not medication. Lastly, smaller portions of food allow the body to digest better. When having a major flare I also avoid gluten. Sorry that my suggestions are kind of all over the place, I am tying as things come to mind. Something else came to mind, do not take vitamins before bed. I use to take some vitamins before bed, but it caused me to wake up at 04:00 with gas pains.
