Hi everyone,

Am new to the forum but not to UC.  I have been flaring for over a year now and am tapering off of prednisone at present.  I just found out 2 weeks ago after a horrific gallbladder attack and trip to the ER that I have gallstone(s).  I had a surgery consult and am scheduled this week to have my gallbladder removed (the surgeon wanted to wait until I was 10mg or less of pred per day before surgery).

Anyway, the prednisone is helping with the UC flare, although less so the lower my taper goes.

I have heard from numerous people who have had their gallbladders removed that they had diarrhea for a while every time they ate during their recovery.  None of these individuals also has UC.

Have any of you ever had your gallbladder removed while flaring and/or on prednisone or even while in remission?  And if yes, how did the recovery go?  Any trouble healing due to pred?  Did it worsen your UC?  Was the urgency, etc. any different?  No such thing as TMI, trust me LOL.

Thanks so much!
