Hi, silly question coming. My doc said get 100-200mg of iron a day between meals b/c I'm anemic. This Slow FE Iron Supplements are 45mg iron they say and each tablet is equal to 142mg of ferrous sulfate. So how many pills should I take if I need to get 100-200mg? I'm confused about what they say is "iron" and then ferrous sulfate b/c I thought that was iron too? I'm confused confused
Very mild left sided (could have fooled me with the "mild")  UC. Started and stopped LDN ON 1/25/09 to mid May no improvements. Supplements: Probiotics, multi, iron, caprlic acid,  trying a new peptid replacement therapy, started Lialda on 8/31/09. Getting IV of vitamins and minerals for 12 weeks. I take lomotil as needed.

I take 2 at a time. I was taking 50mg 3x a day when my anemia was bad.
Diagnosed with mild proctitis in March 2007: Treated with Canasa (as needed)
Horrible relapse: August 08 - December 08: Began treating with Asacol 400mg (9/day) + Canasa 2x/day - Anemic
Canasa nightly + Asacol (9/day) + Probiotics + Iron

If your doc recommends 100-200 mg of Iron a day, then follow the guideline on the Slow FE of 45mg iron per pill (not the ferrous sulfate numbers), and take 2-4 pills a day. I used Slow FE in the past, and it seemed to work fine.
Rio, 33 year old male. Diagnosed with UC in 2006
Azathioprine (stopped), 4800 mg Asacol
VSL#3, Metamucil
Vitamin E enema or Canasa/Mesacol suppository occasionally
