I don't know what else I can do.  The hemorrhoids are killing me.  I soak every night in epsom salt bath, use Tucks, Prep H, Analpram HC.  Nothing is helping.  They were bleeding today.  Any other suggestions?  How long until they heal up?  I thought they were getting better and today they felt really bad.

Are they internal or external? Going on a stool softener might help lessen the strain on them when you go potty (that is, if your bm's are formed)... but I would go to the doctor. For my external one I just used witch hazel on a cotton ball which I guess is the same thing as Tucks.

I can feel them so I am guessing they are external. I don't need any stool softener. Nothing is formed and hasn't been. Can get my flare under control. I had a flex sig September 2nd and the my doctor said they weren't that bad. He gave me the script for the Analpram HC. I will keep using the tucks I guess.

Maybe give witch hazel a shot? It's very cheap. I used up a bottle in like two weeks and the hemmie is gone. Who knows, it may do something for you. I used three cotton balls' worth three or four times a day.

I hate to tell you, but until you get the flare under control, they probably won't heal. I mean, that much pooping and wiping just plain irritates them. I got really big, bad ones from labor (in October) that really didn't get better until I got on pred and the pooping slowed down (in March). Cortisone creme helped shrink them some and make them less painful.
Status: Remission since May 2009!
Symptoms began in November 2008, ~4 weeks after giving birth to my son.
Diagnosed with pancolitis on 1/30/09
Current meds: Apriso (4 0.375g pills ONCE!! daily), mesalamine enema twice weekly, Natural Factors Ultimate probiotic 12/12 Formula, OrthoNovum, multivitamin.

Get the sitz baths equipment. It helps a lot. Just sitting in hot water helps, but when there is hot water shooting at them is better.

You should get a CT scan just in case to see if you are not bleeding from an abscess. I was bleeding for 15 months, with the doctors thinking it was from Crohn's, but then I had a CT scan, put on Zosyn and Flucanozole, and the blood is nearly gone.

I agree with Nostra. Have your doctor take a good look at it. Mine turned out to be a large abcess that was pushing its way through to the outside. I had to be pushy and insist that someone actually look at it rather than just give me a verbal diagnosis. I had 3 doctors tell me it was " normal" without doing anything other than a visual exam. By the time I had a fourth who finally did a good exam, I was in a dangerous situation and had to go the er. Having a doctor incise and drain it was a piece of cake. The pain was gone so quickly I couldn't believe it. It takes a while to heal but the constant toxic pain is gone! People with Crohns are more likely to develop these but it isn't unusual for uc patients to develop an abcess. It is unlikely that this is what you have, but it is worth knowing about since nothing else seems to be helping you. You can google pix of hemmorroids vs abcesses through the mayo clinic and john hopkins.

Nostra - I'm curious about your situation. I too have had bleeding for around 15 months - bright red and typically at the end of the movement. I don't really have any perianal pain, although I have had an abscess drain somewhat regularly in the past (white discharge). I typically have formed movements, occasionally not. Did you have any pain? Formed movements? I'm wondering if the bleeding is from a rectal abscess/ulcer or internal hemmies. Thanks!

I would see a proctologist...if they call them that anymore, maybe colorectal surgeon is the term they use today.  My GI doesn't do anything for hemmorhoids.

Diagnosed with ulcerative proctitis in 1998 in hospital
Hospitalized (2nd time) in May 2008 for ten days.
Remission Nov 08 thru May of 09.
Slowly coming out of flare.  Meds: Colazal (6 per day), prednisone 10 mgm and tapering weekly, Cort enema nightly, Canasa in morning, Benicar 20 mg for BP, flaxseed oil 3 x a day, fishoil 2 x a day, probiotic 3 x a day, calcium with D 1x a day and multivitamin.
Doctor had me on 100 mgm of 6MP which drastically lowered my white count.  Now off the 6MP pending results of repeat white count. UGH.

My Doc prescribed "anucort" suppositories for hemmies..2x day. Cleared them up very quickly for me. I agree with the others above, that you need to get a REAL exam.
Don't let this go on too long. If they're really bad, they can tie them off to stop the blood flow. It sounds weird, but it works. I have a friend who had this done and he's totally rid of them. Feel better:)
Diagnosed with ulcerative proctitis in 2010. On canasa 1x/day, tapering off 4 Lialda a day (trying to get to 2), cort enemas and anucort as needed, ultimate flora critical care probiotics (50 billion)

Sorry to hear they're giving you so much trouble.

If I'm flaring my hemorrhoids are pretty constant. None of the creams or suppositories help me either. I do get some relief from sitting on an ice pack when they're very achey or using coconut oil topically. I have a little bit of success from homeopathic remedies for hemmies, but while flaring it doesn't do much for them.

When my flare subsides the hemmies go away too.

Whoa, just realized this thread was started in 2009. Hope the OP isn't still dealing with the original case of hemmies!
