You're right, 72 carbs are not a lot, but with the diet restrictions she has adhered to over the past year (first the Maker's Diet for about
6 months, now gluten-free for the last six months) there aren't many high carb foods allowed that she really likes. She has never had a big appetite (with the exception of when she was on prednisone, then she was ravenous!), she's 5' 3" and weighed 98 lbs before UC, since dx'd she has fluctuated between 80 lbs (she was hospitalized for almost a month when she was initially dx'd and lost a lot of weight) and 108 lbs (when she was on her highest dose of prednisone). Currently, she is about
90 lbs, I would LOVE to see her gain at least 10 more lbs. of good weight! A typical day for her would be about
30 carbs at breakfast, 15 at lunch, 15 at dinner and maybe another 10 to 15 throughout the day. She prefers to drink water so there aren't liquid carbs to worry about
. There has been some improvement, but VERY slow--a two steps forward, one step back ordeal! Her colonoscopy in May still had inflammation throughout her entire colon, but it wasn't as severe as the inflammation of her first colonoscopy 17 months earlier, when there were large white areas of oozing pus and very red, raw patches.
