Yeah, if they're using DNA probes, that could multiply DNA from organisms that were there, but are now dead, and the dead stuff is still lingering (I'm speaking from experience with using DNA probes to check for plant pathogens...it should work in the same manner). Also, just because the DNA profile of an "unknown" found in her stool is similar to that of a known pathogen, it doesn't necessairly mean it's pathogenic. Chances are higher that it is than it isn't, but it's in no way definitive.
So is it really a question of trying this med or a colectomy? Is the remicade not working well enough?

Symptoms began in November 2008, ~4 weeks after giving birth to my son
Diagnosed with pancolitis on 1/30/09
Meds: Apriso (4 0.375g pills ONCE!! daily), mesalamine enema twice weekly, Natural Factors Ultimate probiotic 12/12 Formula, OrthoNovum, multivitamin. Used prednisone (starting dose 40 mg) to get into remission.
